'English/Nat A new designer made her debut on the catwalks of Paris on Wednesday, one with a very famous surname. Stella McCartney, daughter of Sir Paul and Linda McCartney, premiered her first ready- to-wear collection for Chloe. Just six months ago Stella McCartney was still making clothes in her flat in London. But on Wednesday the Paris pret-a-porter season saw her debut for the fashion house of Chloe. The show was held in the sumptuous surroundings of the Opera Garnier in Paris. The McCartneys were joined by fellow ex-Beatle Ringo Starr. It was Linda McCartney\'s second public appearance since her battle against breast cancer became known. On Tuesday night, she was at her husband\'s side at the charity gala premiere in London of his 75-minute symphonic poem \"Standing Stone\". Paul and Linda were clearly delighted by their daughter\'s achievement. UPSOUND: (English) \"We\'re very proud and proud to be her parents. Fifty percent mummy and fifty percent daddy.\" (Q) \"When she was a little girl did she want to become designer?\" \"We didn\'t know her when she was a little girl.\" SUPER CAPTION: Linda and Paul McCartney The long show saw a display of more than 100 outfits. Stella\'s aim - to appeal both to her own generation and to contemporaries of her parents. Her versatile designs certainly encompassed both the traditional and the adventurous, providing a feast to the eye. The emphasis was on light fabrics, blurring the lines between under and over wear. Many of the clothes were inspired by the \"Belle Epoque\" era. The 25-year-old studied at London\'s Central Saint Martin\'s school of design and graduated in 1995. But even as young as 15, she was learning the tricks of the trade at Christian Lacroix. After the models had played their part it was time for the young designer to hit the catwalk. Sir Paul, used to being in the limelight, seemed pleased that his youngest daughter was tasting fame for herself. UPSOUND: (English) \"Isn\'t she great, we told you she was good.\" SUPER CAPTION: Paul McCartney The Chloe label was made world-famous by Karl Lagerfeld in the 1960s and 70s - but lost its way when the German designer left in 1983 to revolutionise Chanel. Stella McCartney was asked to take over Chloe last spring, when owners of the French house admitted their designs needed a breath of fresh air.
