'(2 Mar 2020) MODELS IN ANIMAL COSTUMES WALK STELLA MCCARTNEY\'S PARIS SHOW Stella McCartney sent models dressed as animals down the runway for the finale of her Winter 2020 ready-to-wear show Monday morning (2 MARCH 2020) at the Opera Garnier in Paris. They proudly carried her bags in vegan leather and animal-free shearling. The show was also an ode to the strong yet sexy woman that McCartney has always championed, such as American actress Shailene Woodley or French actress Isabelle Huppert, both sitting front row. McCartney had access to the archives of Russian-born French designer and illustrator Erte, whom she met as a child. Granted exclusive use of his motifs, she printed them onto dresses and shirts, contrasting their opulence with checks and vegan leather. The collection featured quite a bit of McCartney\'s animal-free leather, including a perforated version, as well as her shaggy shearling. Silhouettes were often voluminous. Structural, tailored outerwear ranged from soft long capes to a utilitarian lumberjack check. Flowing looks for evening came embroidered with a chic triple-bead design. Handbags came in geometric shapes, in structured vegan leather with chunky chains, or else oversized and slouchy. Head-turning gold and silver jewelry in flat, animal shapes were inspired by ancient hieroglyphs and mid-century art—big dangly monkeys hanging from models\' ears, for example, or alligator brooches crawling across jackets.
