The agenda behind End Ecocide is to make the destruction of ecosystems a crime. A crime for which those in positions of superior responsibility can be held criminally accountable for. Currently this is not the case, and in most countries large corporations causing destruction to the environment simply receive fines. End Ecocide is a citizens initiative demanding the introduction of ecocide as a crime into international law, so that our planet can be properly protected. With trompe l’oeil digi-prints of a grand French mansion’s interiors transposed onto underwear and t-shirts, frock coats, petticoats and really smudged lipstick, Vivienne Westwood’s horror-story riff on rococo was quite the (sexy) romp. Once again Val Garland’s theatrical makeup was put to great effect – the painted-on dollyish eyelashes teamed with equally innocent rosy cheeks were put suitably out of joint with the messy, smeared red lippie. It’s only a matter of time until the fash pack’s continued love-in for statement outerwear delves further back into history – we think a decorative number like this would look pretty impressive with a pair of jeans.
