The 65-year-old designer, whose fashions were immortalised by actress Audrey Hepburn in such films as \"Sabrina\" and \"Breakfastat Tiffany\'s\", has said he will not renew his contract when it expires at year\'s end. Givenchy\'s show was as perfectly tailored as ever, with a series of elegant suits with blazers of navy gabardine with white linen collars and black-and-white checks and pinstripes. Shoulders stayed boxy and hems short. Meanwhile, Emanuel Ungaro unfurled sexy little suits with corseted bodices, structured busts and plunging necklines. Rather than taking hemlines to new heights, as the show progressed, forms were increasingly exaggerated. Wind-up doll dresses of burnished tulle, embroidered with roses and gold lace, had pinched waists, bulbous sleeves and flouncy petticoats. Finally, Ungaro sent out a series of striped taffeta gowns with ever-tighter bustiers, bouffant sleeves and swollen rear end bustles pinched in below the buttocks.
