'Sewing garments without a pattern is quick and easy. Today we’re beginning work on a denim shirt-jacket for Irisha. In this video, Irina Paukshte will show how to draft the base pattern and the sleeve, using just a few measurements. For this we will need drafting paper, but you may draft directly on the fabric. Today you’ll learn in what order to trace lines for the back and the sleeve, and then how to modify this base to draft the front. Irina will explain how the front is different from the back, and how wide the button placket should be for an outerwear garment. In the end, we will get a loose fitting shirt with front and back yokes, menswear inspired collar, two big pockets, and straight sleeves with a dropped shoulder. These oversized shirt jackets are very trendy right now and will become an essential part of your spring/summer wardrobe!
