We don’t really know Victoria’s Secret without head honchos Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio, and following this year’s fashion show when Alessandra revealed this would be her last runway, like EVER, we took the devastating blow knowing that we’d still have Adriana to envy and drool over… but after Adriana’s recent Instagram post, she, too, may now be hanging up her wings alongside her partner in crime… yeah – brace yourselves people. Proving that she is MUCH more than just 5-feet-8-inches of pure Brazilian perfection, Adriana revealed in her recent Instagram that she will no longer be taking off her clothes for an empty cause. A spark clearly ignited under her when recently approached to film a ‘sexy video’ to be shared on social media, and in turn, prompted some hardcore soul searching. She started off by saying QUOTE, “Even though I have done many of this type, something had changed in me. When a friend approached me to share that she was unhappy with her body, then it made me think…that every day in my life, I wake up thinking, ‘how do I look? Was I going to be accepted in my job?’ And in that moment I realized that majority of woman probably wake up every morning trying to fit a stereotype that society/social media/fashion etc imposed.” She went onto say that her job constantly puts her under enormous pressure to look a certain way, and that she’s finally grown of the ‘impositions.’ In her post, she also brought attention to the fact that we as women should not continue to live in a world with such superficial values and that it isn’t fair for us, physically and mentally. So starting now, Adriana has plead to make that change, saying, “I will not take off my clothes anymore for an empty cause.” Although this could mean that Adriana will not be returning for any future fashion shows, the post has caused a wave of support from fans, garnering over 88,000 likes and counting, along with uplifting messages of gratitude. One fan even wrote, “It is so amazing to hear these words come from someone who has been apart of the modelling industry for long period of time.” She did previously state that she has at least two more years until she hangs up her angel wings, so hey, maybe Adriana will be making one exception… ok so that could be selfish of me, but we didn’t even get a warning after this year’s fashion show, and now, not one, but two of my faves are gonna be out – it’s just a lot to take in on a Monday you guys!
