'REBECCA MINKOFF\'S COLLECTION TAKES A SHINE TO PATTI SMITH Rebecca Minkoff went back to the early era of rock\'n\'roll for a bit of inspiration for the new season. The New York-based designer found singer Patti Smith\'s memoir \'Just Kids\' particularly good for ideas. \"I was really inspired by her youth, the raw energy she portrays in the book and that she was in New York at a time that you almost can\'t recreate today. The \'70s and rock\'n\'roll was just beginning so this collection is really an ode to that,\" she explained before the show Friday (13February2015). The collection referenced Smith\'s androgynous rock chick look in a line full of dark colors, blacks, maroons, greys, earth-tones blues. The 33-outfit runway show included textured jackets, tassels galore on boots and coats alike, calf-skin coats and silk embroidered bag straps.
