'The allure of the Oscar de la Renta Fall 2022 collection begins with dazzling hues inspired by Mother Nature: grasses and sky, petals and fronds, oceans and sea foam. The vibrant colors in both dramatic solids and lively color blocking are complemented by lush textures. Leather makes a striking appearance in dresses and skirts, jackets and coats. Affording the rich fabric center stage, the tailoring is precise and polished. Diamanté embellishments, inspired by archived and much-loved pearl prints, add dimension to sweaters, pants and dresses. A shredded-tulle technique appearing in rosette sleeves and an allover design lends an exquisite touch to cocktail frocks in black and white, sunflower yellow and bubblegum pink. The renowned rose-garden theme makes an encore appearance in tops and dresses, enhanced this season by three-dimensional, crocheted flowers and stems. Rendered in vivid hues of azalea, cherry blossom, lilac and forest green, the botanicals pop against a backdrop of black velvet. Following this concept of juxtaposed colors, a gown with threadwork embroidery generates a visual explosion through the use of black thread. A strong Italian influence is evident in statement-making pietre dure prints, inspired by a technique popular in Rome and Florence in the 16th century. Precious stones and marble of various colors were cut and inlaid into furniture to create unique patterns and shapes. The resulting floral and jewelry motifs are replicated in dresses, pants and tops, with powerful puffed sleeves highlighting all categories. Italian tapestries and Botticelli’s painting \"The Birth of Venus\" provide further inspiration in day and evening dresses, and a scarf-detailed sleeveless top is a stylized interpretation of the painted garden of Livia at the Palazzo Massimo in Rome. Cut-out velvet petals are the heart of a fuchsia cocktail dress, and our eyelash technique introduced in pre-fall teases with a frayed-edge appearance. A changeant effect of transitioning colors is employed in a short, strapless dress, while bias-cut sequined bows continue the shredded theme. The bold punctuation of the collection defines the world of shine, brought to life in a bright-cyan dress that is radiance personified.
