His androgynous models strutted down the runway wearing blouse jackets, smocks and cropped trousers with high-heeled platform shoes. Some carried leather purses. The Irish designer initially pursued a career in acting before turning to fashion, where he is now considered one of the new stars on the British scene. The palette was autumnal with a splash of bright colours and patterns. Richard James saluted the New Edwardians or \"Teddy Boy\" style in his upcoming autumn-winter collection - referring to the 1950\'s British subculture of young men inspired by the Edwardian-era dandies, a fashion that rapidly spread across the UK and soon became associated with rock and roll. The good thing about London is that everything is possible when it comes to fashion according to Richard James: \"I think, you know, you\'ve got Paris and Milan and New York but this is the one where so much has been embraced. It\'s not just for people like me who\'ve been around for a long time. You\'ve got the people in Shoreditch or whatever who are doing amazing things and you don\'t see that in the other fashion weeks. So we\'re embracing everything.\" It will come as no surprise that one of the biggest celebrities to endorse the Richard James suit is Daniel Craig as James Bond. The Alexander McQueen fashion show was set in a chapel. His collection was simple and dark, with strong references to post-punk. The black was paired with silver or gold accents, sharp tailored suits, and minimal geometric shapes.
