'A look into our archives with this video of the Oscar de la Renta Spring 1992 runway show and an excerpt from its review in the New York Times. \"His show Wednesday afternoon was as crowded as all the others and brought the usual bursts of applause. The designer was greeted with predictable enthusiasm as he took his obligatory walk down the runway with his models at the end. In short, de la Renta is accepted. His best clothes were the kind usually called American: clean, neat and not overwrought. They were well received because there hasn\'t been too much of this sort of thing on the runway here. The opening scene was all white linen, including shirts, dresses and suits. Last season, he made a splash with his tartan plaids. He followed this time with madras. A few inches of narrow madras skirts showed beneath the long white jackets. Suits made entirely of madras looked smart in pale shades of green with pink or blue with white. To carry out the Caribbean theme he set for himself in this collection, de la Renta wrapped the models\' heads in turbans or gave them planter\'s hats. Among his experiments with longer hemlines were narrow skirts with button fronts that didn\'t button below the hips. A great white shirtdress with big patch pockets also proved that longer day clothes can be smart.\" ― Established in New York City in 1965, Oscar de la Renta is one of the world\'s leading luxury brands.
